Silicon nanowire field-effect-transistor based biosensors: from sensitive to ultra-sensitive.
Silicon nanowire field effect transistors (SiNW-FETs) have shown great promise as biosensors in highly sensitive, selective, real-time and label-free measurements. While applications of SiNW-FETs for detection of biological species have been described in several publications, less attention has been devoted to summarize the conjugating methods involved in linking organic bio-receptors with the ...

was readily constructed by simple modification of a common FID hydrocarbon monitor, with addition of a commercially available valve oven, switching valve, and timer. This system, except for the adjusted response time, had virtually the same operating specifications as the original hydrocarbon analyzer. Short-term studies indicated the system was practical, reliable, and accurate. Air-monitoring...
متن کاملThe sodium ion-assisted memory behaviour of a silicon nanowire partial composite field-effect transistor.
A partial composite consisting of rough silicon nanowires and a polymer dielectric layer with sufficient Na(+) ions was used to create a field-effect transistor based memory device. Addition of Na(+) ions helped compensate for water molecule trapped charges leading to narrow hysteresis characteristics and stable memory retention stability of the resulting device.
متن کاملA highly pH-sensitive nanowire field-effect transistor based on silicon on insulator
BACKGROUND An experimental and theoretical study of a silicon-nanowire field-effect transistor made of silicon on insulator by CMOS-compatible methods is presented. RESULTS A maximum Nernstian sensitivity to pH change of 59 mV/pH was obtained experimentally. The maximum charge sensitivity of the sensor was estimated to be on the order of a thousandth of the electron charge in subthreshold mod...
متن کاملIon-sensitive field effect transistor as a pH sensor.
In this work, both the static and dynamic behaviors as well as the signal read-out circuits of ISFETs were studied. The standard NMOS structure in conjunction with the insulator-electrolyte capacitor was used to model the ISFET under study. The site-binding theory was incorporated to describe the chemistry occurring at the insulator/electrolyte interface. The mechanism of the threshold voltage ...
